The executive staff for Community Roots has more than 35 years of combined leadership experience in public and private schools. We hold secondary degrees from some of the nation's top schools for pedagogy and educational leadership.

Jeremy Cavallaro

Executive Director of Education

jeremyJeremy Cavallaro is the Co-Founder of the school and has served as Community Roots Academy’s Executive Director of Education since the school’s doors opened in the fall of 2011.  Mr. Cavallaro exclusively dedicated two years to the creation and founding of Community Roots Academy (CRA), after working regularly on the charter school as a concept since graduate school at Bank Street in New York City.

Before developing and working at CRA, Mr. Cavallaro worked in education as a school administrator, teacher, and curriculum developer.  From 2006-2009, he was the Principal of a private Orange County school (K-8), after having worked as its Vice-Principal during the 2005-2006 school year.  Mr. Cavallaro was the Assistant to the Principal at the Earth School (K-5), a public grade school of choice on the Lower Eastside in New York City.

Mr. Cavallaro has taught in public and private schools in California, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont, instructing students in grades 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 through 10.  He was a museum educator, developing curriculum and programs for learners of all ages.  In addition, Mr. Cavallaro has developed educational programs for primary and secondary school students, created and led a variety of professional development programs for fellow educators, and written numerous educational and school-related grants.  He also has coached a number of athletic teams, including softball and basketball.

Mr. Cavallaro was accepted to and completed Harvard University’s Principal’s Institute in 2008.  After years of teaching, he earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at New York City’s exclusive Bank Street College.  He earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in history with a minor in geography from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, in addition to having completed numerous education courses at Ramapo College of New Jersey.  Mr. Cavallaro is a certified teacher and administrator.
