At CRA students develop proficiency in the core academic disciplines of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science while building critical 21st Century skills. For all grades, school subjects are integrated into sustained projects where students express their learning as authentic artifacts and presentations. This instructional methodology is commonly referred to as project-based learning or PBL. Through project-based learning, CRA students’ develop a knowledge base, an ability to collaborate, solve problems, think critically and build confidence as they negotiate some of the challenges of the real world in a safe, nurturing learning environment. .
Research has proven that when students engage in effective project-based learning they demonstrate improved academic achievement, positive attitudes towards learning and increased ability to use higher-level cognitive skills. (Strobel & van Barneveld, 2009;Walker & Leary, 2009).
