As part of CRA’S continued commitment to our educators’ professional development, we recently invited the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) to work with CRA teachers to develop a shared understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Teachers explored the shifts in the NGSS, including the idea that science education should reflect the interconnected nature of the sciences as it’s practiced and experienced in the real world. Working with the science and the engineering practices while observing and documenting a scientific phenomenon, our teachers discussed the interconnectedness of Math, English Language Arts and the NGSS.

Already working to integrate these teachings into their classroom lesson and lab plans, CRA teachers are eager to participate in the additional science-focused professional development set for next week. We commend our teachers’ hard work in all of CRA’s professional development programs and their enthusiasm for the growth of our science program.
